For the sixth straight year, Southern California is the team champion in the Girls Junior Americas Cup golf tournament, held this year at the Logan Golf and Country Club, but they had to come from behind to do it. Southern Cal finished at seven over par for the three days, beating Northern Cal by two.There was also a dramatic finish for medalist honors. After leading for the first 49 holes, Northern California’s Hannah Suh faltered on the back nine and came in with a seven over 78, tying her for second with teammate Mariko Turmangan.Southern Cal’s Emily Tubert took the first place medal by a two stroke margin. The turning point was the par five 14th, which played as the toughest hole all week. In perfect position, Suh airmailed her approach shot over the green, took double bogey seven, and relinquished her lead for good. Utah’s number one, Sirene Blair, came home with another 77 and finished tied for 29th. The Utah team was 13th, Idaho finished 14th.Over 150 volunteers and 30 host families helped make this tournament possible.
