Kevin Dustin has been named as Assistant Director of the Utah High School Activities Association

Mr. Kevin Dustin has been named as Assistant Director of the Utah High School Activities Association to fill the vacancy left by new Executive Director, Mr. Rob Cuff. Kevin was hired from a number of qualified candidates who were screened and interviewed by a UHSAA Search Committee. He will assume duties August 10. Kevin has spent the past 14 years in the athletic department at Utah State University where most recently he has been the Associate Athletic Director for Development. Prior to employment with Utah State, Kevin was the high school basketball coach and an English teacher at Sky View High School and led the Bobcats to the 1994 state championship and was named the Utah 4A Coach of the Year. Kevin will have staff responsibilities over baseball, basketball, drama, football and golf. He will also work with corporate sponsors, marketing and supervise statewide coaches’ education. UHSAA Executive Director Rob Cuff said, “We are thrilled to have Kevin join our team of directors. His experiences in high school activities as a participant, official and coach are exceptional. He has been a participant in a small school setting and an educator in a large school setting. His additional experience in event management, marketing and working with corporate sponsorships will add to the strength of our team. Kevin has the personality and work ethic that will bring instant respect to his position.” Kevin Dustin attended North Rich High School in Laketown, Utah. He is married to Danene and together they have five children. “I believe high school activities are a great part of the academic mission of our high schools. Activities should synergize with the academic goals of every school and enhance the opportunity for development of character and lifetime skills,” said Dustin. “I am excited about the opportunity to work with the Utah High School Activities Association and our member schools. I am well aware of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. I want to thank Rob and his staff for their confidence and for providing me with this new challenge. I am especially excited to work with educators throughout the state in providing positive activities for young people. My years at Utah State have been a choice experience. I am grateful to Athletics Director Scott Barnes, Dr. Ross Peterson and President Albrecht for their years of mentoring and leadership.” Mr. Bart Thompson and Ms. Becky Anderson are also Assistant Directors at the Utah High School Activities Association. Mr. Mike Petty is the Supervisor of Officials. The UHSAA has 134 member schools with a total school enrollment of 111, 302 students. The UHSAA administers and supervises 20 high school sports and three activities (music, drama and debate) in five classifications and 20 regions throughout Utah.

LOGAN, Utah – The Utah High School Activities Association announced Thursday the hiring of Kevin Dustin as their Assistant Director of the Utah High Activities Association. Dustin has spent the last 14 years in the Utah State University Athletics Department in a number of roles, including associate athletics director for development the last three years. “I think this new opportunity with the Utah High School Activities Association will be a good match,” said USU athletics director Scott Barnes. “Kevin has been a long-time, valued employee in several different roles and he will be missed.”
