Break-in results in two arrests

A North Logan man has been arrested in connection with a Tuesday morning burglary in his hometown. 26-year old Sergio Garcia and his 22-year old Logan friend, Yonic Tena, sent Logan Police on a foot chase early Sunday morning about 1 a.m. when they allegedly pushed in a window air-conditioner at the home of 40 South 100 West in Logan. The homeowner was awake and looked out the window to see a man dressed in black approaching him. Police reports state the man barricaded himself in his bedroom and called police. Multiple officers responded and soon caught Yonic Tena. Lieutenant Rod Peterson says officers set up a perimeter and called in the canine specialists. The police dog, “Officer Tino”, located a second suspect in some bushes and assisted Sergio Garcia to arresting officers after he refused to come out when warned. Peterson says Garcia threatened officers repeatedly and allegedly said he’d kill them. Meanwhile an officer assisting in the chase came upon a stockpile of miscellaneous items that were linked to automobile burglaries in the area. Peterson says had Logan Police Department not had a canine unit, it’s probable Garcia would have gotten away.
