You can get your car washed for a good cause at the Cache Valley Mall on Saturday, August 8th. The project is called “Kids Helping Kids” and teenagers ages 14 to 19 are encouraged to come help at a big car wash from 1 to 5 p.m. Project organizer, Mackenzie Hamilton, says a group of 35 teenagers have been planning and organizing this weekend’s event. “We’re so passionate about helping,” Hamilton explains. “We also wanted to give teenagers an opportunity to come out and serve. I think a lot of the time teenagers just don’t know where to go to go serve and on top of that they’re so busy with everything, you know, they have a social life, as well as family commitments, and church, so many things they’re expected to excel at.” Hamilton also says it’s not only a great opportunity to support a good cause, it’s also an opportunity for youth to be more community-minded. “I think a lot of the time service just gets pushed on the back burner but we’re trying to change that mentality. This fund raiser will be the first step to doing that.” All of the proceeds will go to the Cache Child and Family Support Center. Those participating will also be involved with blanket tying, assembly of care packages and painting toy cars.
