Emergency response trailer donated to Brigham City Emergency Services

The Northern Utah Chapter of the American Red Cross Disaster Chair Peggy Mecham presented the keys to a trailer to James Buchanan of Brigham City Emergency Services on behalf of Box Elder County. The trailer contains supplies that will furnish a 200 bed shelter to be used in case of an emergency in Northern Utah.The funds for the 7 X 16 ft. trailers and their contents: 200 cots, 400 blankets, 200 hygiene kits, two shelter manager’s kits and two Disaster Health Services kits were donated by the Wal-Mart Foundation to the Northern Utah Chapter of the American Red Cross. On hand for the presentation was Brigham City Mayor Lou Ann Christensen, City Administrator Bruce Leonard, and City Councilmember Reese Jensen as well as Red Cross volunteers Billee Peterson, Bart and Jessica Schroder, George Muller and Red Cross intern Lindsey Nyquist.Fred Henderson, Emergency Services Director, was instrumental in obtaining the Wal-Mart Foundation grant that permitted the chapter to purchase, paint, outfit the trailers and obtain the needed supplies for the 200 bed shelter kits. Currently there are similar trailers located in Morgan, Davis, and Cache/Rich Counties a fifth trailer will be located in Weber County next month. While the trailers will be repositioned in these counties they are available to be moved to other areas if needed.
