Cache County Sheriffs deputies responded to an incident in Hyrum early this morning on a report of a hostage and barricaded man who was armed with a handgun. Deputies, along with two Logan City Police Department officers and three Utah Highway Patrol Deputies, closed all the roads related to the incident’s address.The Sheriffs Office SWAT team as well as Sheriffs Office negotiators responded to the scene. Shortly after their arrival the victim and her two children left the residence in a vehicle and the suspect remained barricaded inside the home.Sheriffs Office negotiators talked with the suspect for approximately two hours and were able to talk him safely out of the home. Once outside, the Sheriffs Office SWAT team took the suspect into custody. He was taken to the Cache County Jail and booked on one count of aggravated kidnapping.
