‘Time Out for Women’ event scheduled next month at USU

Even adults need an occasional time out. Now that the kids are back in school, women looking for renewal can turn to an inspirational-based program coming to Logan—Time Out for Women. Tickets are now on sale for two sessions on Sept. 18-19, 2009, at the Kent Concert Hall in the Chase Fine Arts Building at Utah State University. Time Out for Women, an event now in its seventh year sponsored by Deseret Book Company, sends popular authors and music artists on the road to share messages of hope and renewal with women (predominantly LDS) across the country. Each session includes a program of speakers and music performances. This year’s theme—Sweet Assurance—is reflective of the hope needed in today’s challenging times. Topics covered include how to find peace in the assurance that God is at the helm during the Last Days, how to keep a sense of humor that enriches our relationships, how to identify the fruits of motherhood while also knowing you can succeed as a parent, and how to put daily challenges into proper perspective. The Friday session (Sept. 18) will feature authors Chieko N. Okazaki (Lighten Up and Being Enough), photographer Mark Mabry (Reflections of Christ) and music artist Michael McLean (The Forgotten Carols). The Saturday session (Sept. 19) will feature authors Emily Watts (I Hate It When Exercise is the Answer), Mary Ellen Edmunds (Love Is a Verb; Peculiar in a Good Way), Brent L. Top (When You Can’t Do It Alone), Jill C. Manning (What’s the Big Deal About Pornography), and music artist Cheri Call (He Gives Flowers to Everyone; Beneath These Stars). Tickets for the events are available all Deseret Book locations, at DeseretBook.com or call 1-866-832-8211.
