Organizers say the contributions of Mormon women to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its culture will be the focus of discussions by scholars and theologians during the 2009 installment of the annual Sunstone Symposium.Sponsored by the Sunstone Education Foundation, which also produces Sunstone Magazine, the event starts today and continues through Saturday in Salt Lake City. First organized in 1979, the symposium offers an examination of Mormon beliefs and practices through presentations, panels and discussions.The 2009 symposium sessions will touch on a range of topics including Mormon blogging, Mormon-authored and themed literature and films, polygamy, church hisorical sites, natural childbirth and Mormon activism.Presenters include both Mormons and non-Mormons.
