A memorial service for Mary Doty will be held Thursday, August 20th, at USU’s Evan Stevenson Ballroom. Doty, a prominent professor at Utah State University and director of USU’s Counseling Center since 1992, was killed in an automobile accident on Wednesday, August 12th.The memorial service is open to everyone and will begin at 6 p.m. Guests can visit with the family and view Doty’s special possessions that highlight her life and career beginning at 5:30 p.m. A reception will follow the memorial service.Doty was the director of the USU Counseling Center, the interim Associate Vice President for Student Services and a dedicated 20-year employee at the university. She also served as the Counseling Center’s liaison to the Athletics Department, Sexual Assault and Anti-Violence Information Office, and the College of Agriculture.Doty’s family is encouraging mourners to make donations to the Cache Valley Humane Society, Four Paws Animal Rescue, CAPSA, CISM or the Avalon Hills Foundation for eating disorder patients, an organization Doty played a significant role in creating.
