IHC encouraging people to park further away

Walk further and be healthier. That challenge has been issued to employees at Logan Regional Hospital.Doug Thompson, Director of Communications at the hospital, says Logan Regional’s parent company, Intermountain Healthcare, painted four spots on the southeast corner of the largest parking lot, which are the farthest away from an entrance.”These faraway parking spots were set up by Intermountain Healthcare to encourage better health among our employees,” Thompson says. “The idea is to park farther away, increase your heart rate and be healthier.”Thompson says he’s been pleasantly surprised to see that the faraway parking places are being filled almost every day.IHC has teamed up with Salt Lake County in launching a new program encouraging people to park farther away from their destination and walk a little bit extra to boost their health. They are encouraging businesses throughout the state to follow suit.
