LOGAN, Utah – Utah State sophomore Summer Tillotson was named Western Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 17-23. Louisiana Tech’s Olivia Lukasewich earned Offensive Player of the Week honors. Tillotson, a sophomore from Sandy, Utah (Alta HS), anchored Utah State’s defense to a 2-0 shutout victory over 2008 NCAA Tournament participant Northern Arizona. Tillotson played all 90 minutes in the backfield for Utah State, which held NAU to just five shots. The sophomore also added the game-winning goal for the Aggies, placing a penalty kick in the net during the first half. This is the first WAC Player of the Week honor for Tillotson and the first week of WAC Player of the Week awards this season. Last season, the Aggies were honored with Player of the Week honors five times, including returnees Sydne Porter-Garner, Lauren Hansen, Shantel Flanary and Lindsey Smart. The Aggies now take to the road, traveling to El Paso, Texas for the 12th-annual Miner Classic hosted by UTEP. USU will take on Texas Tech on Friday, Aug. 28 and Stephen F. Austin on Sunday, Aug. 30. This is the Aggies’ first meeting with both teams. Live stats will be available for the matches against Texas Tech and Stephen F. Austin through the women’s soccer page on www.utahstateaggies.com, by clicking on GameTracker in the current events box. -USU-
