Everyone in the community is invited to an ice cream social this Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Logan Tabernacle grounds. There will be free Casper’s ice cream and free cookies provided by Pepperidge Farm. The event is to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the United Way of Cache Valley and also to serve as a kick off to the fall fundraising campaign for the organization. The United Way of Cache Valley has a new director, Doug Stephenson, and this will be a chance for residents to learn how they can give, advocate or volunteer to make a difference with the organization. The United Way of Cache Valley will raise funding for 18 local charities. Stephenson says the United Way has raised almost $3 million for local charities since 1974 and almost $200,000 was distributed among local charities last year with much of the money donated through a payroll deduction plan at local employers.
