USU Botanical Center shares harvest

A Utah Botanical Center and Utah State University Extension project has provided more than 4,000 pounds of fresh produce to food banks in Davis County this summer and the harvest is not finished yet. The next big harvest event is tonight at seven and the Botanical Center’s location is 725 Sego Lily Drive in Kasville (east of 50 West Street.) The Giving Garden began this spring as a wish to turn available land, donated seed and volunteer labor into nutritious, delicious produce for area food banks. Since the garden was planted by volunteers in mid-May, more than 1,000 people, individuals, civic groups, boy scouts, families and youth groups, have volunteered to tend the 12,000 square foot plot.
