The theme is FARMtastic Fall and Executive Director Steve DeLong says this fall will be the biggest ever at the American West Heritage Center. He says there will be many different kinds of activities between September 19th and October 31st.On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Thursday, DeLong said the traditional Fall Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 19th will actually be the kickoff to FARMtastic Fall.”We do a lot of the traditional things on the farm, which is fun,” DeLong said. “We have threshing. We’ll have the old steam tractor running.”DeLong also said they will have some unique demonstrations. ” We’ll also have a sorghum pressing demonstration. We’ll actually come out the night before and start that process so if you’ve never seen sorghum pressed it’s really interesting. It kind of looks like a corn stock but they put it through a press and that’s where they get the molasses, and syrup, and things that come out. We’ll have other demonstrations on the farm.”DeLong says the corn maze will be open and there will be pony rides as well as rides on the recently-arrived American West Railroad Train. September 19th is also the date for the popular old-time fiddler contest at the Heritage Center.Other events at the fall festival include the Hay Fort Jump, Kids Maze, Blackout Maze, Choose the Right Maze (a maze that does not let people make left turns) and more.
