Cache Democrats to tailgate at USU football game, gather signatures for initiatives

Cache County Democrats are holding a homecoming tailgate party tomorrow starting at 4 p.m. and running until time for the Aggie football game, which starts at 6:05 p.m. Party Chairman Vince Wickwar says the party will be held in the Romney Stadium parking lot at USU and there will be some good fun and good talk. Wickwar said signatures will also be gathered in an effort to get two important initiatives on the ballot next year — The Utah Fair Boundaries Initiative and another that deals with ethics reform. He said both are extremely important. “We need to have people get out, get signatures for this,” Wickwar said. “The process for initiatives in this state is much more complicated than say California. We always hear about their ballot initiatives. At the drop of a hat someone can put an initiative on their ballot. He said it will take the work of a lot of people to make this happen. Utah Republican Party Chairman Dave Hansen said earlier this week that he opposes both initiatives and does not believe they are needed.
