Logan fire station needs remodeling

Steve Thompson is not running for re-election to the Logan Municipal Council this year but instead he is employed part time running after stimulus and other money available to the City of Logan.Under contract with the city, Thompson sees a lot of ways such money could be spent to benefit the city. He says over $200,000 has already come in and some of that will help remodel the downtown fire station.Thompson says the remodel has been needed for several years. “We did a small renovation about five years ago but it really does need some major work to make it a living environment,” Thompson explained on KVNU’s Crosstalk Show Tuesday. “One of the things that we needed to do, which I think is great progress for Logan City, is that we have a woman that’s now on the fire force and in our emergency services. When you bring on a woman your housing needs change.”So he says that changes the whole living arrangement from what has been more of a “men’s dorm.” Thompson says that’s exciting but also a little expensive. He hopes to get money for renewable energy projects and a parking structure for downtown Logan.
