Utah places first order for swine flu vaccines

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – State and local health officials have begun placing orders for swine flu vaccines. Tom Hudachko, a spokesman for the Utah Department of Health, says up to 30,000 doses are expected to arrive within two to 15 days. The vaccines will be shipped directly from a California warehouse to local health departments, doctor’s offices and pharmacies around the state. Utah’s 12 local health departments will determine how best to dole out the vaccines in their areas. The state health department plans to place another, larger order for vaccines within the next two weeks and then place weekly orders as needed. Those orders will include H1N1 vaccines that can be administered in shots. — On the Net:
