Box Elder County could become a new home for salt flat racing. Box Elder County Commissioner Brian Shaffer was invited to the Bonneville Salt Flats recently by Mike Cook, Bonneville 400 expert advisor.Shaffer says Cook is interested in bringing events to a piece of salt in Box Elder County boundaries that is one foot thick and 13 miles long. Shaffer says such an event could bring in a lot of tourism money.Shaffer says Bonneville Flats people are not looking for funding from the county. Instead, they are looking for at least access to the area. An official proposal will be presented to the commission soon.
