Marissa Nielsen of Hyrum was crowned Miss Utah’s Outstanding Teen 2010 at the Covey Center for the Arts in provo on Oct. 3.Nielsen is a junior at Mountain Crest where she is on the volleyball and track teams. She also enjoys participating in theatrical productions and her scholastic ambition is to get a masters degree in vocal performance from Utah State University.Along with the title, Nielsen won a $1,000 scholarship and a two-year tuition waiver from USU to continue her education, along with $3,000 in other prizes and sponsored gifts.For the talent portion of the competition, Nielsen performed “I Will Fly,” a vocal selection from local composer Jay Richards’ musical, “Little Women.”
