Skanchy, former Cache County and Logan City councilmember dies

Sarah Ann Skanchy, a former member of both the Cache County and Logan Municipal councils, died Wednesday at her home in Logan.Skanchy worked as a corporate lawyer in California before marrying Robert Skanchy of Logan. They moved to Cache Valley after his retirement from the military and Robert preceded her in death.After leaving the Cache County Council, Skanchy served on the Logan-Cache Airport Advisory Board and also worked as a volunteer for the organization.Current Logan Municipal Councilman Jay Monson served with Skanchy on the Cache County Council years ago, and said Skanchy was a top-notch serviceperson.”She’s as honest as anyone I’ve ever known, she had excellent judgment and was so concerned about representing everyone and really worked so ahrd to do a good job, and she did a wonderful job, she just was a marvelous councilmember,” Monson said. “I know she was in Logan City too when she did that before, she was really an ideal person to have in public office.”Skanchy’s funeral services will be held on Oct. 16.
