A special caregiver recognition night is being held on Thursday, November 5th, sponsored by the Cache County Caregiver Coalition, the Cache County Senior Center and the Bear River Area Agency on Aging.Allison Richman, Alzheimers coordinator for the Bear River Association of Governments, says the dinner starts at 6 p.m. at the Cache Valley Assisted Living and Memory Care facility in Providence, 933 North Main. “We have Lynn Lemon from the County, who has also been a caregiver, and he’s going to be speaking to us that night and recognizing the month as a special caregiver month,” Richman said on KVNU’s Crosstalk Show Monday.Richman said the caregivers can’t normally get away and go on a Hawaiian vacation but they will get a taste of Hawaii that night. “We have a great Polynesian theme. We have some entertainment with some Polynesian dancers, and the meal is going to be kind of a night like that.”Debra Crowther of the Bear River Area Agency on Aging says there are over 50 million caregivers in the U.S. who provide more than 375 billion care giving services each year helping chronically ill and disabled loved ones deal with life’s basic functions. If a caregiver needs to bring the person being cared for, respite care will be provided.
