When it comes to tax havens for small business, Utah is ranked number five among states by CNNMoney.com. Utah gained points for its transparent and simple tax code and for the fact that the state adopted a flat personal income tax rate of five percent across all brackets.The corporate income tax is also a flat five percent. The story quoted Bert Israelson, Chief Operating Officer of Frontier Scientific, a Logan company that makes products for biomedical research. Israelson says “people are never happy with taxes, but in comparison with other states we are probably in good shape.”South Dakota was ranked first as a tax haven, followed by Texas, Montana, Tennessee and Utah.
