Summit aims to improve traffic safety in Cache County

Cache County Attorney James Swink will be giving kick-off remarks Tuesday morning at a Cache Valley Transportation Safety Leadership Summit. The summit begins at 10 a.m. in the County Council chambers of the Historic Cache County Courthouse.Swink will also introduce Utah Commissioner of Public Safety Lance Davenport. Among those encouraged to attend are law enforcement officers, community and school officials, bicycle and pedestrian group leaders, Utah State University officials and interested community members.”Putting a Human Face to the Numbers” is the theme for a local crash victim discussion panel led by Cache County Victim Advocate Teryl Warner. At 11 a.m. Utah Department of Transportation Region One Traffic and Safety Engineer Darin Duersch will be analyzing Cache County crash data.After that there will be breakout sessions on distracted/drowsy and/or impaired driving, teenage driving, bicycle and pedestrian safety under the direction of Jeff Gilbert, Executive Director of the Cache Metropolitan Planning Agency. Attorney Swink says hopefully information will come out of the summit that will help improve traffic safety in the area.
