Three weeks into the 2009 Sub for Santa program, sponsorships are down and fewer applications have been received than last year at this time. This concerns Connie Bodily, Executive Director of the Cache Valley Sub for Santa program, who says she believes there is even more need this year than last year because of the bad economy. Last year was highly successful with almost 1500 children served and about 120 family sponsors. More people were also helped through the Sharing Tree at Shopko.Bodily says it takes a willing heart and a willingness to pick up the phone and call 752-6315. “We explain how the program functions then ask them simply how many children they feel like they can sponsor,” Bodily explains. “Then from there I match them up with a recipient.”Bodily says that the program has worked for years in matching people’s needs with giving hearts. “It’s all done anonymously, of course, and they just go out and shop for us and bring it back on December 10th or 11th to our drop off spot.”The program has a new location at the Boys and Girls Club building. The address is 354 South Main in Logan.
