It will take legislation to approve it but Utah Board of Regents member Teresa Theurer believes the College of Eastern Utah is on its way to becoming a regional comprehensive college of Utah State University on July 1, 2010. Theurer says she sees this as a real “positive.” She says many people in the Price area, who previously were against the merger, now actually support it. “At the point that CEU was, it is such a small institution that financially and with the budget cuts they just weren’t making it,” Theurer says. “So the reason it all started was for financial reasons. But as we’ve gotten into it more I think we’ve found that there’s some real benefits for both institutions in doing this.” Theuer says the legislators from the area support the idea and there are sponsors for the legislation. At this time, she says, there seem to be no roadblocks
