So far the Bear River Health Department has received 20,900 doses of the H1N1 flu vaccine. Department director Lloyd Berentzen says he had expected to have at least 60,000 by now. The good news is by the end of this week almost all of the elementary schools in Cache, Rich, Box Elder and Logan school districts will have had H1N1 clinics on site. An average sixty percent of the students have had the vaccine. Only those with parental permission receive it. Berentzen says when the vaccine comes in, it is in smaller quantities than he would like. He also reports that no seasonal flu vaccine is available at the present time. The health department advises the public to try to stay healthy by washing your hands often, and staying home when you are sick. Watch the department’s website at brhd.org for vaccine availability.
