Gary Wilkinson cut from South Korean team

Contents of an email exchange between Sports Producer Hurricane John Newbold and Gary Wilkinson’s agent, Ben Pensack indicate that Gary has been cut from his team in South Korea. There are no immediate plans for his future but his agent sounds optimistic about other opportunities for Gary. Here’s the exchange:

Hurricane John Newbold

“Hello Mr. Pensack, this is John Newbold with KVNU radio in Logan, UT. I have a question about Gary. Did the South Korean team he played for release him? Or did Gary just get hurt 2 games ago? What is the situation? I saw that Gary played 11 minutes and scored 5 points 2 games ago and then he wasn’t in the box score the last 2 games. Also I noticed his team just signed a Center. I believe his name was Jones. If you could help me out with some details that would be great. Thanks for your time and help.”

Ben Pensack

“John, Yes he was released by the Korean team. We really were not given much of a reason why. Gary was playing 15.9 minutes a game and averaging 9.2 points and 4.1 rebounds. The team was also in first place at the time they released him. I think the team made a big mistake. Gary is now a free agent and is awaiting his next opportunity. He will likely head to Europe sometime in the next few weeks. Regards, Ben Pensack”
