Logan Police are issuing a warning at the start of another cold Cache Valley winter: don’t leave your young children alone in the car as you shop or run errands. Lt. Rod Peterson says most people are very aware of the dangers of the cold but he says sometimes it happens anyway. However, he says the great thing about Cache Valley residents, Peterson says, is their quick response if they see a child alone in a car. He says it’s common for emergency dispatch workers to get calls notifying police of child neglect. Peterson says the law states it is unlawful to leave a child under the age of six in a vehicle in the care of another child 12 or younger for more than 10 minutes. He says police will not hesitate issuing a citation to anyone who does this.
