New Mexico State’s mascot suspended for tonight’s game against USU

Remember last year at the Western Athletic Conference basketball tournament when the USU and New Mexico State mascots got into a tussle?Big Blue, the mascot for USU was suspended for the next game, the WAC Championship Game, but Pistol Pete, the NMSU mascot, had to wait until the next conference game to serve his suspension, and that will be tonight at 9 p.m. when the two Aggie teams meet in Las Cruces, the Las Cruces Sun-News reports.According to the newspaper, every New Mexico State student will get a plastic mustache tonight in support of the absence of DJ Downs, the NMSU senior who acts as Pistol Pete at sporting events.The fight reportedly started after Big Blue, acting on a $100 bribe from a Nevada fan, ripped Pistol Pete’s mustache off his face.
