The planned split of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Science into separate colleges of humanities and social science and a Caine College of the Arts was made official Friday by the USU Board of Trustees. Last year, university officials announced a desire to take the departments currently in the Caine School of the Arts and establish a separate college for them, citing additional fundraising opportunities as a major benefit. On Friday at their monthly meeting, the USU Board of Trustees voted in favor of the split. The Utah State Board of Regents must now approve the split, but there is not expected to be any opposition there.
