The Union Bilingual Preschool, a local nonprofit that helps English speaking children and Spanish speaking children learn from each other, is holding a fundraiser on Tuesday, January 19th. It will be held at the Beehive Grill, 225 South Main, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event is free and open to the pubic. The Beehive Grill will donate 20 percent of the proceeds for the night to the Union Bilingual Preschool scholarship fund which helps more children have an opportunity for a bilingual learning experience. Scholarships are based on need and availability. Union Director Kristen Olsen says the preschool features a curriculum for optimal language acquisition among the children regardless of previous language exposure, language levels and maturity levels. She says the curriculum at Union works best when students come from a variety of backgrounds and the scholarship fund ensures that this happens.
