ELC helping refugees

Increasing numbers of students and increased class offerings have forced the English Language Center to move to a larger location. The Center is now located at 1544 North 200 West in Logan. Co-Director Katie Jensen says the unexpected arrival of more than 100 Burmese refugees last year contributed to the need for a larger facility. Now she says the ELC is the only center in Northern Utah receiving state refugee funds, although it is not much and money is always a major need. Jensen says the center has begun serving refugees from several African countries now in turmoil and also from Iraq. The English Language Center was recently named Top Community-Based Organization in the state.
