USDA hosting job and economic forum

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is leading the effort to hear from rural America about what is needed to create jobs and economic development in rural communities across the country.The USDA is hosting a forum on Jobs and Economic Growth on Thursday, January 28th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Cache County Administration Building, 179 North Main in Logan. Public Information Coordinator Donna Birk says the forum will provide an opportunity for residents, business owners and community leaders to share ideas on creating jobs and economic opportunities.”We’re going to be having a panel of local business leaders and development leaders along with a Farm Service Agency executive director and USDA Rural Development state director,” Birk says. “They’ll be talking about some of the issues in the area. The public will be invited to make comments. We have a flip chart and we will be taking notes. Those notes will be compiled and sent to the administration.”Birk says everyone is invited to ask questions and give input. Among the discussion topics will be exploring ways to rejuvenate and promote local businesses, creating jobs by rebuilding America’s infrastructure, creating new opportunities from existing ones such as value-added agricultural products and supporting growth among small businesses.Everyone’s invited to attend and give input. Birk says the primary focus for the meeting will be on challenges and ideas to accelerate job growth in the Cache County area.
