Bad east coast weather prompts cancellation of Wasserman Festival concert

The impacts of the week’s history-making weather on the East Coast have reached Cache Valley. Travel difficulties have necessitated the cancelation of the opening event at Utah State University’s Wassermann Festival. The opening solo concert by Stephen Hough has been canceled because the artist is stranded in New York City. With canceled airline flights, Hough is unable to reach Utah. Hough was scheduled to perform at USU Thursday, Feb. 11. Wassermann Festival Director Dennis Hirst will attempt to reschedule Hough’s appearance, but negotiations are in the preliminary phase. Ticket holders for the Feb. 11 concert will be contacted by the box office with options. “We are disappointed that Mr. Hough is unable to join us for the originally scheduled event,” Hirst said. “He was valiant in his efforts to reach Logan, but Mother Nature didn’t cooperate.” Information concerning the cancelation and possible reschedule will be posted on the Wassermann Festival Web site (www.usu.edu/wassermann).
