For those thinking about running for political office, they have only a little over a month to make up their mind. Previously, there was a 10-day filing period but Cache County Clerk Jill Zollinger says the legislature has shortened the time to one week. Those wanting to file must do so between March 12th and March 19th. All of Cache County elected positions are up for grabs this year along with three members of the county council. “All the county officials: the assessor, attorney, auditor, clerk, executive, surveyor, recorder, sheriff, and treasurer,” Zollinger explains. “And then for the county council it’s the Northeast District, the Logan seat number three and the Southeast District. That’s Brian Chambers, Craig Petersen and Gordon Zilles.”Residents will also be voting for state representatives, congressional representatives, and governor since there is a special election for governor. Zollinger says, so far, none of the incumbents have announced they do not plan to run for reelection.
