A committee described by Logan Municipal Council Chairman Jay Monson as “very diverse” has finished its work and at Tuesday night’s council meeting the proposed new Business License for Landlords is on the agenda as a workshop item. Controversy previously surrounded what was then called the ‘Landlord Licensing Law.” Monson says the name has been changed because it would actually be a business license for apartment owners just like owners of other businesses have business licenses. Monson says people both for and against such a license are on the committee. He says it was an excellent and very diverse committee. “No one can say it didn’t have representation from all parties,” Monson says. “It was a large committee. If there was any group that was predominantly on the committee it was represented by the landlords themselves. “No preconceived notions, there were no prescribed guidelines about what we had to do. I think the outcome is going to be very, really agreeable to everyone.” The issue of parking permit fees will also be discussed during a workshop at the 5:30 p.m. meeting.
