Utah lawmaker advocates for ads on school buses

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — State Rep. Jim Bird has introduced a bill that would let Utah’s school buses become moving billboards.The Republican from West Jordan unveiled House Bill 393 on Tuesday. It lets school boards raise funds by selling advertising space on the exterior of buses only.Ads for any products illegal for minors would be banned, including ads for alcohol, tobacco, drugs, gambling or sexual material.The bill also requires Utah’s Department of Transportation to make rules governing the placement and sizes of the advertisements.
