The CEO of Cache Valley Specialty Hospital has been airlifted to Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake County following a head-on crash in North Logan Friday morning. John Worley was traveling southbound on 400 East at about 1700 North in front of the North Logan Post Office, when his Nissan Altima was struck by a northbound Chevrolet Extended Cab pickup truck. Friday evening, Worley was reportedly in OK condition at the hospital and was preparing to be taken in for hip surgery. Reports from the hospital indicated that Worley was alert and talking prior to going in for surgery, and doctors said Worley sustained no serious permanent neurological damage. North Park Police Sgt. John Italasano says the driver of the pickup swerved into oncoming traffic after trying to avoid rear-ending a car that was waiting to turn left into the post office. Italasano says the driver reported he didn’t see that the car was stopped. The force of the crash deployed airbags. The pickup driver walked away without injuries. Worley suffered head injuries after hitting the windshield. Italasano says it doesn’t appear he was wearing a seat belt. Trisha Northcutt, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Cache Valley Specialty Hospital, says the nature and severity of Worley’s injuries are not yet being confirmed by the Salt Lake hospital. She says the Specialty Hospital administration is staying in close contact with Worley’s wife. Meanwhile the driver of the pickup was cited with driving left of center.
