Override election for West Side School District Tuesday

The West Side School District is holding its annual supplemental levy override election Tuesday and residents are encouraged to vote between the hours of 12 noon and 8 p.m. at the West Side High School Library in Dayton, Idaho.West Side School Superintendent Melvin Beutler says the override has been asked of patrons every year since the district was organized in 1947. Beutler has been superintendent for 22 years and he says voters have approved the $90,000 override each of those years. He says it is needed even more than ever this year because of state budget cuts. “You know, we’d appreciate it if they turned out to vote and exercised their authority and voting rights,” Beutler says. “The school district appreciates all that’s been done in the past and pledges to continue to do the very best to educate its students.”Beutler says money generated from the levy goes for maintenance and operation of the school district. He says the district is asking for no increases in taxes; the levy is exactly the same as in previous years.
