Second ski area proposed for Cache County

LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Developers have filed plans for a new Utah ski area in Richmond. The sponsors hope to start construction in April and open the 160-acre ski hill by Thanksgiving Day.They plan to build as many as four lifts, plus a “magic carpet” for a tubing hill. The development plans were posted on the web site of the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget.No name was revealed for what would become Utah’s 14th ski area in operation. Logan-area skiers have only one local ski area, Beaver Mountain, 27 winding miles up Logan Canyon.There has been opposition to the proposed ski hill by residents in Richmond. Access to the hill would wind through residential neighborhoods.
