USU will face Texas A&M in NCAA tournament

Aggie fans had to sweat it out, but Utah State was one of the final teams announced as “in” the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament Sunday afternoon.The Aggies will take on the Texas A&M Aggies from the Big 12 Friday in Spokeane, Wash. Both Aggies will find themselves in the South region, with a potential second-round matchup against the winner of the Purdue/Siena game and Sweet 16 games played in Houston.The fate of the USU Aggies’ tournament plans was up in the air after losing Saturday night in the WAC Tournament Championship game to New Mexico State. The NewMags also received a 12 seed in the tournament and will take on Michigan State on Friday.The only other team from Utah to make the tournament, BYU, is a seven seed and will play Florida on Thursday.Texas A&M may be a team that many would consider under seeded, with an RPI of 13 and the No. 4 strength of schedule in the country. Texas A&M finished the season 22-9 with a 12-6 record in the Big 12. The team’s key wins were over Baylor, Clemson, Missouri, Texas and Oklahoma State.
