Utah AG says state will challenge health care bill

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) – Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff says he will join attorneys general in several other states in a legal challenge of the health care reform measure passed by the U.S. House. Shurtleff issued a statement Monday calling the measure unconstitutional because it requires all Americans to have some form of health insurance. He said the bill also infringes on states’ rights. Shurtleff says the attorneys general of Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, Nebraska, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Texas and Washington have all agreed to file a lawsuit if President Barack Obama signs the bill into law.
