Jon Schmidt, Jake White, Lea Cabrera joining forces to help rebuild Chile

Guitar soloist Jake White, acclaimed entertainer and pianist Jon Schmidt, American Idol finalist Lea Cabrera. Those are just some of the well-known artists to be featured in a “Re-building Chile Concert.”The concert is scheduled for Friday, April 2 in the Kent Concert Hall of the Utah State University Chase Fine Arts Center. Organizer Cameron Rigby recently returned from Chile after spending two years there as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.Rigby explains that on February 27 Chile was hit by the second largest earthquake in recorded history and the concert is being held to help rebuild the country. Rigby says all of the proceeds will go directly to the Chilean Red Cross Humanitarian organization.”We are working with the university International Student Council,” Rigby said on a recent KVNU Crosstalk show. “They’ve been really fundamental; they’ve been helping us a lot. We really want to thank them. “Also, the Music Department’s agreed to be a co-sponsor of the event. Craig Jessop’s been really amazing, giving support. So we are really grateful for people’s concern for the Chilean people and making this event possible.”Rigby said the concert should not only be great entertainment but also raise cultural awareness while helping the ravaged country and the people of Chile.
