Logan man pleads guilty to animal torture

Logan, Utah (AP) – A Logan man accused of shooting a dog several times with an airsoft gun has pleaded guilty to felony animal torture. 22-year-old Emilio Deshun Hoy was arrested Feb. 5 after investigators say they obtained videotape of him holding the Jack Russell terrier upside down by its tail and shooting it in the face, body and testicles on Christmas Eve. Hoy entered his plea this week in 1st District Court. He’s scheduled to be sentenced May 18. The Cache Humane Society says the dog was adopted by a local family after Hoy was arrested. Meanwhile, prosecutors have dismissed the case against a 21-year-old woman who was present when the dog was shot. A judge said she had little involvement in the case.
