Health Department recognizes four with ‘Friends’ award

The Bear River Health Department celebrated Public Health Week last week, and as part of the week’s festivities, recognized four individuals in the community for their contributions to the public health of the community.Health Department officials honored Sgt. Louise Speth of the Logan City Police Department, Rosemary Eubanks and the Cache Valley Radio Group, Lt. Michael Nelson and Hser Doh.Speth was noted for her commitment to the safety and health of children in Logan and for her efforts to prevent underage drinking.Eubanks and the Cache Valley Radio Group were recognized for their “generous efforts in regularly keeping our community informed about important public health issues.”Nelson was noted for “his commitment to the safety and health of children in Brigham City and for his efforts in preventing injuries and substance abuse.Doh was awarded for his “dedicated service to the Cache Valley Burmese refugee population in helping them to access public health services.”These four were awarded for their efforts in protecting the community, promoting healthy lifestyles, and preventing disease. Employees at the Bear River Health Department were given the opportunity to nominate an individual within the community that showed exemplary work and effort to promote public health.”We are appreciative of these individuals who have gone above and beyond to help better the health of their communities,” said Lloyd Berentzen, health director for the department.
