Nelson steps away from state House race, cites family medical emergency

There will be two instead of three intra-party elections when the Cache County Republican Party holds its county convention on Friday, April 30. Elaine Nelson, who was challenging incumbent District Three Representative Jack Draxler, has withdrawn her candidacy. The former North Logan City Councilmember says her father, who lives out of state, suffered a stroke and the family medical emergency necessitated her to spend her energy focused on her parents’ needs. The two intra-party races involve District Five incumbent Representative Curt Webb versus Chuck Bateman and Cache County incumbent Recorder Michael Gleed who is being challenged by Stanley Palmer.
