Earth Day celebration on USU campus

Utah State University will celebrate its third annual Earth Day event and the 40th anniversary of the original Earth Day on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the Quad. Everyone is invited to attend the free event. This year’s theme is “Unplugged,” which encourages everyone at USU to power down in an effort to save jobs and to save the planet. The event kicks off with music, food, tours and interactive displays. USU President Stan Albrecht will speak to students about USU’s commitment to sustainability at 3 p.m. on the Quad. Jordy Guth, chair of the outreach committee for the USU Sustainability Council, says it is estimated that if everyone turned off their power bar at night the phantom electricity savings alone could save one job at USU.
