Marni Nixon to be special guest at Musica Magnifica

Some exciting news came this past week to the Utah Festival Opera Company. Managing Director Gary Griffin says it has to do with Musica Magnifica, a patriotic concert traditionally presented on the 24th of July. “This year we’re going to have a very special guest star,” Griffin says. “The most famous singer-dubber in the history of motion pictures, Marni Nixon, who was the voice in The King and I, she dubbed for Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady and she dubbed for Natalie Wood in West Side Story. “She did all the singing on all of those albums and she will be our special guest at Musica Magnifica this year.” Griffin says local residents would be wise to get their tickets early for this concert before they are gone. The opera season runs from July 7 to August 7 in the Ellen Eccles Theatre.
