Patrons of the Preston School District went to the polls on Tuesday and voted in support of a supplemental levy of $250,000. Fifty nine percent of the people voted in favor of the levy and 410 people, or 41 percent, voted no. The measure amounts to an increase of approximately $61 in property tax on a $100,000 taxable value. The Preston School Board is expressing appreciation to those who supported the levy and Superintendent Barbara Taylor says it will help the district deal with a million-dollar-plus budget reduction. The school board meets Wednesday night and members will discuss whether or not to take action on a proposal to move to a four-day school week.
