Cook: I can hit those economic issues where the rubber meets the road

He is just one of seven challengers to U.S. Senator Bob Bennett and he has not been leading in Senatorial polls. However, former Republican Representative Merrill Cook says he feels his popularity has been rising as it gets closer to the May 8 Republican State Convention. On KVNU’s For the People program Thursday, Cook said the other candidates are bickering about issues such as the Constitution and bailout votes but Cook says his own campaign is based on the practical application of Constitutional questions.”For example, this whole question of our monetary system, I was on the House Banking Committee,” Cook said. “I know how outrageous the power of the Federal Reserve has become and how unconstitutional it’s become. “I can hit those economic issues where the rubber hits the road in a much deeper, much clearer and a much more significant way as far as what we need to do to get our free enterprise system back.”Cook and all of the other Bennett challengers are expected to be at Friday night’s Cache County Republication convention. Sen. Bennett is also expected to attend the event which begins at 6 p.m. at the Mount Logan Middle School.
